Orthobiologics
At Southern Indiana Orthopedics, we are dedicated to providing our patients with the latest in state-of-the-art care. That’s why we offer orthobiologic procedures, a nonsurgical and natural method of repairing injuries and soft-tissue damage.
Various growth factors are found in blood and bone marrow, and they are able to become new bone, muscle, tendon, and blood components at sites of injury and other damage.
Orthobiologic therapy is an outpatient procedure that uses a concentration that is extracted from the patient’s own bone marrow or blood, which is then injected into the site of injury or damage. Once injected, the concentration of either autologous conditioned plasma or multipotent stromal cells (repair cells and tissues) works to help heal your injury or condition.
Orthobiologics are used to treat many injuries and conditions, including:
- ACL sprains and tears
- Arthritis
- Articular cartilage injuries
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Degenerative joint disease
- Labral tears
- Ligament sprains
- Partial rotator cuff tears
- Tendonitis (medically referred to as tendinitis)
- Tennis elbow
- Trigger finger
